Putney High School’s Mikki Austin will be looking to guide her Surrey Storm outfit to 2018 British Fast5 All-Stars Championship glory this Saturday at Copper Box Arena, Hackney Wick, writes Ziad Chaudry.
With a cool £25,000 winners prize up for grabs in Barry Hearn's Matchroom MultiSport five hour netball bonanza, the 25-year-old director of coaching and centre player has assembled a strong looking team which includes her main All-Star pick Australia's two-time world title winner Sharni Layton, Sigi Burger, Katy Holland and Shadine Van Der Merwe.
And Austin, a twice Superleague winner with Guldford-based Storm and also a coach at Putney High School, is delighted to have a marquee signing participating in her team: "We are absolutely honoured to have an Aussie Diamond playing in the duck egg blue at the Fast5 competition," she said.
“Sharni is one of the most formidable defenders in world netball and someone the majority of netballers, including myself, have idolised."
“I know our Storm fans will show Sharni as much Storm love as possible for the time she is with us and we cannot wait to get started and be ready to compete for that top prize on Saturday."
Tickets are available via www.fast5allstars.co.uk, otherwise catch all the action later this month on Sky Sports Mix.
