Tottenham Court Road in London was cordoned off this evening following reports of a "suspicious package".
Videos posted to Twitter show the deserted street with cordons at either end, along with a large police presence.
One video looks up and down the street showing crowds gathered at the cordon.

Twitter user, Kyle, said: “Tottenham Court Road being evacuated due a “risk of life to the public”.”
Another video shows the view from the cordon as a police dogs van pulls up at the scene.

The poster, calling themselves News For All, said: “Police have cordoned off Tottenham Court Road after reports of a suspicious package.”
The road has since reopened after the “package” was discovered to be a handbag and its owner found.

Camden Police tweeted confirming the incident had been resolved saying: “Police were called shortly after 5pm today to reports of an unattended bag on Tottenham Court Road, W1.
"The owner has since been located and roads reopened.”
