Based on the books by H.E. Bates the story revolves around the Larkin family living in rural Kent during the 1950s.
It was first adapted for television in the 1990s, with David Jason starring as ‘Pop’ Larkin and Pam Ferris as ‘Ma’ Larkin, alongside a breakout role for Catherine Zeta-Jones as their eldest daughter Mariette.
Nowadays Bradley Walsh and Joanna Scanlen are taking on the main two roles.
