OUTSTANDING and EXCELLENT are the only words inspectors use to describe Hurlingham School on Putney Bridge Road Wonderful news from Hurlingham School in Putney!
On Friday 20 January, the school received its inspection report and was thrilled to see that every single judgement recorded by the inspectors who visited at the end of 2011 was either outstanding or excellent!
The seventeen pages of the report cover such areas as academic achievements, curricular and extra-curricular provision, quality of teaching, pupils’ personal development- spiritually, morally, socially and culturally-, governance, leadership, management, links with parents and welfare, health and safety. Each and every area was declared either outstanding or excellent, making the report the very best that it could be. The school quite literally could not have done better!
Jonathan Brough, Headmaster of Hurlingham, commented on how absolutely delighted the children, staff and parents were by the extremely rare- almost (but not quite!) exclusive- nature of the final report and went on to say he had been particularly pleased that the inspectors had recognised the growth and development of the school over the past ten years. Whilst Hurlingham is now a comparatively large school (320 children split into four sections of Reception, Infants, Lower Juniors and Upper Juniors,) it still retains its core values of blending friendliness in all things, strong pastoral care and the maximum number of opportunities for pupils, wherever their interests and talents may lie, with academic ambition and a determination to do the very best for each and every child. The school’s unique feel and philosophy had certainly been championed and celebrated by the inspectorate, said Mr Brough.
The full inspection report is now available for download from the school’s website, www.hurlinghamschool.co.uk, and a copy in print form may be requested by contacting the school on 020 8874 7186.
