People in Wandsworth who don’t have regular access to an NHS dentist will be delighted to know that there are now lots of NHS dentists in the area which are currently accepting patients.
On Monday 21 March and Tuesday 22 March 2011 there will be a road show which will be based at Asda Superstore in Clapham Junction. Local residents are urged to come along for an opportunity to learn how to look after their teeth and to find out where there are local NHS dentists. NHS Wandsworth is running the road show to highlight the availability of NHS dentists in the borough, as well as to explain the range of treatments available and the NHS charges and exemptions. In addition to the road show a London wide campaign has been launched which will include advertising on the capital’s radio stations and television screens in GP surgeries and local schools.
Last year, 102,914 people were treated by NHS dentists in Wandsworth. When a patient goes for a check up the NHS dentist is able to assess patient’s oral health should they need any more treatment they will explain what’s involved and how much it will cost. They can also give tips to help avoid problems in the future and advise patients how often they need to visit for check-ups.
Commenting on the campaign, Borough Managing Director, Graham Mackenzie, said: “We have listened to local people, who have told us that they want better access to NHS dentists and clear information explaining how they can book an appointment.”
Graham continued: “The new campaign highlights the availability of NHS dentists. We have good access to NHS dental services in Wandsworth, but in the past some patients have found it difficult to find a dentist, to get an appointment or to get treated. The campaign aims to address those concerns, plus other popular misconceptions about charges and exemptions.”
The campaign will be running across London until the end of March.
