Battersea commuters can get advice on avoiding identity fraud sent straight to their mobile phones today.

Police and council community safety officers will be in the borough giving tips on how to avoid becoming a victim.

Statistics show that parts of Wandsworth borough are among the country's worst-hit areas.

Wealthy people, those who rent properties and those who move frequently are said to be more likely to be fraud targets.

Officers will be at Clapham Junction Station between 8am and 5pm, sending safety messages via Bluetooth, handing out leaflets, and creating awareness of how people can protect themselves against ID fraud.

The scheme is part of National Identity Fraud Prevention Week.

Information stalls will also be at other locations, including the following: Northcote Library from noon to 2pm Battersea Library from noon to 2pm Sainsbury's, Garratt Lane, from noon to 3pm Macmillan Way, Heritage Park, Tooting from noon to 5pm Daulton Place residential home, Heritage Park from 4pm to 6pm.
