FOOTBALL: Following last year's sold out pre-season friendly against FC United of Manchester, AFC Wimbledon will return the favour by travelling up north for a return fixture on Saturday, July 22. The Dons will make the trip to play the Manchester United breakaway club at Bury's Gigg Lane ground before further pre-season friendlies at home to a Crystal Palace youth side on Tuesday, July 25, at Aldershot on Saturday, August 5, and at Kingsmeadow against Kingstonian on Saturday, August 12. BANGER RACING: National bangers world champion Shane Davies (above) added the pre-1970 Classic Bangers World Champion title to his CV with a great drive at Wimbledon Stadium on Sunday, May 28th. Davies, behind the wheel of a classic 1968 Volvo, claimed the title after Keith Painter's huge 1969 American Motors Ambassador station wagon came to a standstill. CRICKET: Wimbledon collected four points for a winning draw on a rain-hit Saturday in the Shepherd Neame Surrey Championship on Saturday. The Dons posted 255-6 with Kiwi Richard Pudney hitting 84 and Sean Davies 76 before reducing Nor-mandy to 109-8. Wimbledon host Sutton on Saturday.TENNIS: A tournament held at Joseph Hood Recreation Ground in Merton raised nearly £500 for Save The Children. Jack Hammond won the men's singles, with Charlotte Nutting and Rosie Gillespie taking the women's doubles.
