London's West End is set to 'sparkle' with festive Christmas lights across St Martin's Lane, Leicester Square and Piccadilly.

The Heart of London Business Alliance has announced the lights will be switched on this Thursday (November 7).

The festive decorations will illuminate the Christmas market in Leicester Square and Piccadilly, creating a backdrop for a Christmas selfie until January 2025.

The lights in St Martin's Lane will mark the beginning of the festive season in London's theatre district.

The 8,000 twinkling lights decorating St Martin's Lane are made from energy-efficient LED bulbs and 100% recyclable coloured inserts.

The lights will be on only during high-footfall times, from 3.30pm to 10.45pm each day.

This year, theatre-goers can look forward to productions like Dr Strangelove, starring Steve Coogan at the Noel Coward Theatre, and the drama Barcelona, featuring Lily Collins at the Duke of York's Theatre.

The newly opened Christmas Shop at Fortnum's offers a range of 'magical treats,' from mince pies and tall tins of Merrilossus to advent calendars and bespoke hampers.

The Burlington Arcade will also be showcasing a 'unique 007 experience' in homage to the 1964 classic film, Goldfinger.

For those looking for a festive tipple, The Alchemist offers a menu of Christmas cocktails, including the Festive Bellini and Hazelnut Whip.

The Ritz will be celebrating with a range of festive events, including a Champagne and Caviar experience.

Mr Fogg’s Tavern will serve specially crafted Christmas drinks, and St Martin’s Lane Hotel offers meals at its Blind Spot Bar.

Culture seekers can also explore a range of arts destinations, including specially crafted Christmas itineraries.

These can be found on Art of London's online guides, which include a selection of art galleries, theatres, museums, and pop-ups to explore in the West End.

The Heart of London Business Alliance, which is responsible for the lights, aims to create a festive atmosphere for both Londoners and visitors.

The Christmas lights in the West End are a much-loved tradition, providing a festive atmosphere and boosting business in the area.
