A road remains closed after a pedestrian died following a crash with an HGV this morning (February 6).
Police, two ambulance crews and an incident response officer attended Brixton Road after an emergency call at 9.37am.
The first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes but a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Road closures are currently in place while investigations are carried out.
The A23 Brixton Road is currently closed in both directions at the Brixton Hill crossroads with Acre Lane and Coldharbour Lane and there is ongoing congestion in the area.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.37am today (Monday, February 6) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Brixton Road, SW9.
“We sent two ambulance crews and an incident response officer to the scene.
“The first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes.
“Sadly, a man died at the scene.”
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 09:40hrs on Monday, 6 February to reports of a road traffic collision in Brixton Road, SW9.
“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended.
“A male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Road closures remain in place.
“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
