Police broke up a large knife fight in a Brixton Street yesterday, which lead to four people being taken to hospital with stab injuries and seven arrests.

Officers were called to Josephine Avenue after reports that a group of men were brawling.

Paramedics attended the scene as a man in his 30s was found with stab wounds.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Another man was found with stab injuries and he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was treated in hospital before police took him into custody.

A car was seen fleeing the scene and was stopped by police in Coldharbour Lane, SW9.

A taser was used on one of the men.

Three were detained and one was found with a minor stab wound.

He was taken to hospital before being taken into custody.

All three were later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Another man who was in the vehicle was found with stab wounds and also taken to hospital.

Police are currently waiting for further information about the conditions of the three men in hospital.

An additional three men were later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Multiple crime scenes were in place across Brixton last night.

A cordon remains in place at Josephine Avenue this morning.

An investigation into the incident continues.

London Ambulance Service has been approached for further information.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to Josephine Avenue, SW2, at 18.19hrs on Saturday, 20 August to reports of a group of males fighting.

“Officers attended along with paramedics from London Ambulance Service (LAS).

“A man in his 30s was found with stab wounds.

“He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

“Another male (no further details) was found at the scene with stab injuries, and he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

“He has been taken to hospital before being taken into custody.

“A vehicle, that was seen driving away from the scene was stopped by police in Coldharbour Lane, SW9.

“Three males were detained and later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

“Taser was used to detain one of the men.

“One of the men detained was found to have a minor stab wound and was taken to hospital for treatment before being taken into custody.

“Another male occupant of the vehicle was taken to hospital after he was found with stab wounds.

“We await an update on the condition of the three males in hospital.

“A further three males were arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

“They have been taken into custody.

“There are multiple crime scenes in place.

“Enquiries continue.”
