A man has been taken to hospital after falling from scaffolding in Wandsworth.

The man was working in Lainson Street today when he fell from a terraced house onto a roof-level platform.

Firefighters rescued him at around 1pm using a 32-meter ladder.

He was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews and then taken to hospital.

Station Commander Mark Nunan, who was at the scene, said: “Crews used one of our 32m ladders to rescue the worker who had fallen from to a scaffolding platform at roof level.

“The area was very tight for space due to trees, vehicles and phoneline cables.

"We managed to get some vehicles moved and due to the versatility of the ladder and the experience of the crews, they were able to get the ladder into position to bring the man safely to the ground.

“He was then given treatment by our colleagues from London Ambulance Service and taken to hospital.”

The incident was over for firefighters shortly before 2pm.

One fire engine from Battersea Fire Station and a fire rescue unit from Wimbledon Fire Station were in attendance.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Firefighters rescued a worker who had fallen from scaffolding at a building on Lainson Street in Wandsworth.

“The man had fallen from scaffolding at a terraced house onto a platform at roof level.

“Crews used a 32m ladder to bring him to safety and he was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews and taken to hospital.

“The Brigade was called at 1pm and the incident was over for firefighters by 1.59pm.

“One fire engine from Battersea Fire Station and a fire rescue unit and 32m ladder from Wimbledon Fire Station were in attendance."
