Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has shared that all City Hall staff going through menopause will soon benefit from additional leave and the option to work in temperature-controlled rooms.
The Mayor said the new menopause policy will be “world-leading” and help to shift perceptions surrounding menopause in the workplace.
Khan made the announcement on International Women's Day whilst chatting with Lorraine Kelly on her morning show.
Saying: "We've got to make sure the workplace is inclusive that means the women's network will be having meetings with our staff and drop-in sessions.
"If it's the case that somebody is going through the transition we're going to make sure that women feel confident to ask for support."
Employers have a responsibility to create truly inclusive workplaces for women—and I'm determined to lead by example.

He added that the new policy had been made following a consultation with staff and union and will apply to the Greater London Authority's 1,000-strong workforce.
Plus as part of the Mayor's new policy staff are encouraged to challenge all inappropriate behavior or derogatory remarks surrounding menopause.
Menopause can be a very hard time for people, as it can include symptoms of hot flushes, anxiety, disrupted sleep, and pain.
It is a natural experience much like the period, but it is known as a taboo and in recent years its been discussed more commonly to end the taboo.
Staff that is experiencing menopause are entitled to request workplace support and adjustments, which could include temperature-controlled areas, as well as the potential for extra breaks if symptoms become severe-plus time to attend appointments.
