Two adults and four children have escaped a house in Clapham where a fire broke out.
Firefighters were called to the mid-terraced house shortly after 7.30pm yesterday evening (February 6) on Kyrle Road.
Most of the loft conversion was destroyed.
There were no reports of any injuries.
Firefighters believe the fire was caused by flammable items close to a heat source.
The brigade was called at 7.37pm and the fire was under control by 9:49pm.
Six fire engines and 40 firefighters from Battersea, Tooting, Clapham, and Wandsworth attended the scene.
A spokesperson from the London Fire Brigade said: “Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a house fire on Kyrle Road in Clapham.
“Most of the loft conversion of a mid-terraced house was damaged by fire.
“Two adults and four children left the building before the Brigade arrived.
“There were no reports of any injuries.
“The Brigade was called at 1937 and the fire was under control by 2149.
“Fire crews from Battersea, Tooting, Clapham and Wandsworth fire stations attended the scene.
“The fire is believed to have been caused by combustible items too close to a heat source.”
