A man believed to be in his 30s is in hospital with a head injury following an assault in Mitcham.

Police were called at around 1.35pm on Sunday, November 21 to reports of the assault around the Western Road area.

A man was found to be suffering a head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A crime scene is in place in the area as enquiries into the circumstances continue.

No arrests have been made.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at approximately 13:35hrs on Sunday, 21 November following reports of a man assaulted in the vicinity of Western Road, Mitcham.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the man, believed aged in his 30s, was found suffering a head injury. He has been taken to hospital for treatment; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"A crime scene remains in place.

"No arrests; enquiries into the circumstances continue.
