A man was stabbed near Balham underground station last night (Tuesday, August 24), police have stabbed.
Reports of the stabbing surfaced on Wednesday after emergency services were seen in the area with a police cordon in place.
It later emerged that first responders had attended reports of a robbery, which some media described as a "botched robbery attempt", to find a 27-year-old man suffering a stab wound.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told the Wandsworth Times:
"Police were called at 23:34hrs on Tuesday, 24 August to reports of a suspected robbery on Balham High Road, SW12.
"Officers attended and found a man suffering from a stab injury. They immediately provided first aid.
"The 27-year-old man was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a south London hospital; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
"A crime scene remains in place and the road is partially closed to traffic.
"There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
"Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference Cad 8134/24Aug."
