Fire crews are currently fighting a flat fire that has broken out in a tower block close to Clapham Junction station in Battersea.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) said on Wednesday afternoon (August 18) they were called to the scene of the fire at 3.22pm.
The blaze broke out in a flat high up in a tower block at Bramonds Close. Fire crews from the surrounding boroughs were called in by LFB to help tackle the fire, as a spokesperson for LFB described:
"Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters have been called to a flat fire on Bramlands Close in Battersea.
"Part of a five-roomed flat on the 16th floor of the building is alight.
"The Brigade was called at 1522. Fire crews from Fulham, Chelsea, Brixton, Lambeth, Kensington and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.
"The cause of the fire is not known at this time."
It has since been brought under control.
In a later update, LFB said that a man had managed to get out of the flat before the fire brigade arrived and was treated at the scene.
Station Commander Clive Robinson, who was at the scene, added the following: "Crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control, which was located in the kitchen of a flat at a residential block.
"One man left the affected flat before the Brigade arrived, who was treated on scene."
