A woman has been found dead after a fire swept through a house in Tooting, south London.

Police were called by the London Fire Brigade to Fountain Road in Tooting at around 11:15pm last night, Wednesday July 7, after reports of a fire.

Officers attended the scene where the body of a woman, believed to be in her 40s, was found deceased inside the property.

Met Police say that at this early stage the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

An investigation into the blaze is ongoing, and the woman's next of kin have been informed.
