A SINGER from Summerstown has topped music charts with an original single filmed partly on Garratts Lane.

Jack Hardman, who sings under the name Good Dog, clinched the number one spot on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Charts in March.

‘Hopeless Man' rose above entries from indie music stars Jake Bugg, Hozier and George Ezra.

The music video for the “piano-led epic about the post-pandemic world” was filmed largely on Garratts Lane, Earlsfield, and features south London train stations, business parks and high streets.

Jack Hardman thanked the community for pushing his track to the top spot.

He said: “The unexpected iTunes number one was a real thrill. One minute I was cooking my dinner, the next I was in the top five and battling with Jake Bugg for the top spot!

“It was one of those bizarre internet moments that just seem to catch people’s imagination.”

The single also entered the Top 30 in iTunes UK main chart and reached No.32 in Australia’s iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart and Spain’s Top 200 iTunes main chart.

Hardman began his musical career as a 21-year-old Radio 1 tipped singer, until the death of his father changed the direction of his life and his music.

The singer has just released a follow-up single, ‘Eyes Of Stone’, which joins other tracks 'Stay And Rest For A While', which and 'A Lost Love Takes A Long Time To Die'.

Good Dog’s debut EP is set for release later this Spring on Family Values, a new Independent Record Label based in Brighton.
