A teenager has been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old in Lambeth on New Year's Day in 2017.
Kyall Parnell, from Thornton Heath, was stabbed to death in Tulse Hill after getting involved in a fight on the upper deck of a bus.
Denique Newell, 19 (24.05.01) of no fixed address was arrested on Monday, 8 February and was charged that same day with murder.
He appeared at magistrates' court and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 11 February.
CCTV showing Kyall being stabbed in the heart was shown to an inquest at Inner South London Coroner's Court , where Kyall's family were gathered.
A statement from a police officer who had been called to the scene and started to treat Kyall, noted how they "heard a clink" and saw a large kitchen knife fall to the ground from Kyall's boxer shorts, while they administered first aid.
Despite police arresting three teenage boys in the aftermath of the stabbing, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided not to press charges in connection with the attack as prosecutors saw it as a case of "self-defence".
