A SCHOOL in Balham has been chosen as a finalist for London as part of the annual Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Awards.
If it wins, Alderbrook Primary School will receive a £1,000 cash prize, plus a special party pack to help them celebrate.
The Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Award recognise the people and activities that make Breakfast Clubs so great – from inspirational volunteers to extra learning sessions.
Around 280 children attend the breakfast club at Alderbrook Primary every morning before school. The club stayed open during the first national lockdown and put together breakfast boxes for families, delivering them both during the lockdown and summer holidays with the help of Magic Breakfast.

Carly Tremblin, Deputy Headteacher at Alderbrook Primary School from said: “We are really excited and incredibly proud to be shortlisted in this year’s Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Awards.
“Writing our entry gave us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the fantastic children who attend every morning, not to mention the hard-working staff.
“If we’re lucky enough to win the award for Best Breakfast Club in London we’ll spend the prize money on creating new initiatives such as The Bagel Banquet, where parents and pupils can come together once a term to have a breakfast and reading session.”
The aim of this year’s Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Awards is to recognise schools all over the UK for the incredible role they have played to educate and safeguard children throughout this pandemic.
Kate Prince, Kellogg’s corporate social responsibility manager for the UK and Ireland, said: “So many clubs across the UK deserve recognition and after receiving 450 applications, it’s been tough to pick our finalists from so many inspiring stories.”

A specialist panel of judges will now assess all 52 shortlisted entries across the UK and the winners will be announced on the 10th February 2021.
