Conmen collecting cash for a bogus ‘charity skydive’ have been fleecing people in Wandsworth.
Residents should be extra cautious of two men wearing hi-viz jackets who claim to be refuse collectors.
According to reports, the duo say they are raising funds for a colleague who has been diagnosed with cancer, by participating in a charity skydive.
They request money from well-wishers on the spot, targeting residents in both the Putney and Battersea areas.
However, the borough’s waste contractor Serco has confirmed the men are not their employees and none of their staff are raising funds in this way.
The Council urges anyone who is approached by the conmen to call the police immediately.
