Fire fighters are battling a blaze at the School of Dentistry at Kings College Hospital in Denmark Hill.
The fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon (December 8), London Fire Brigade (LFB), who remain at the scene, said.
Plumes of smoke from the dentistry school building at the hospital could be seen from a distance over the roofs of nearby houses.
LFB said that they had identified the source of the fire at a ducting at the top of the roof.

The London-based fire brigade sent four fire engines and around 25 firefighters to tackle the blaze after they were called in the minutes before 1pm on Tuesday afternoon:
"Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters are tackling a fire at the School of Dentistry, King's College Hospital at Denmark Hill.
"A small area of ducting at the top of the roof of the Institute's building is on fire.

"Fire crews from Peckham, Brixton, Old Kent Road and New Cross fire stations are at the scene alongside an incident command vehicle.
"The cause of the blaze is under investigation," a spokesperson said.
