Police named the victims as Sonia Teresa Burton Calvi, 56, and Edgar Aguilera Daza, 59, both thought to have moved to the UK from South America.
The couple were found last Wednesday (April 1) by officers, who had been called to a flat in Dorset Road, Stockwell.
The victims were found with multiple stab wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Daniel Briceno-Garcia, 44, of Dorset Road, has been charged with two counts of murder and appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Friday.
His next court appearance will be June 3.
Five other suspects, including four men and one woman, aged in their 40s and 50s, were also arrested on suspicion of murder but have been bailed pending further investigation.
A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to a residential address in Dorset Road, SW8 at around 4pm on Wednesday, April 1.
"Inside the address, officers found a man and a woman suffering stab injuries - both were pronounced dead at the scene.
"They have now been formally identified as married couple, Sonia Teresa Burton Calvi, 66, and Edgar Aguilera Daza, 60. Their next of kin are aware.
"Detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command investigate."
