All over the UK, towns and cities have signed up to be part of the nation’s biggest community gardening and food growing project called The Big Dig. The aim of the day is to get people into their local gardens, getting their hands dirty and helping to prepare gardens for the new growing season.

Over 100 gardens will be getting involved including Growhampton's edible campus here at the University of Roehampton.

We will develop two new growing spaces, both will be potted/container gardens. We will prepare the ground and dig a garden edge and then backfill with woodchip to level the ground for the pots to sit on top of. We'll blend potting compost and fill around 60 containers with potting soil ready for planting with climbing peas and other plants. Finally, if we have time we may do some general gardening and tidying to help clear brambles, nettles and litter.

The event takes place on Saturday 21 March 2015 from 10am - 2pm

People from Roehampton and all over Wandsworth are very welcome to come along and get involved. Meet at car park P9 at the University of Roehampton, Froebel College, Davies Building, SW15 5PJ.
