Commuters are benefiting from more Northern Line trains during rush hour after Transport for London (TfL) launched an upgrade on the line.
A major overhaul in signalling means trains will arrive in Tooting every 140 seconds, meaning a total of 20 per cent more trains, and faster services are running during the peak travel period.
Dan Watkins, Conservative parliamentary candidate for Tooting, said: "I'm really pleased that TfL has finished this major upgrade to the Northern Line's signalling, which has been completed on time and on budget.
"I know this will really help reduce the stress of getting into work and make life a bit easier for Tooting's hard working residents."
Carolyn Viney, a Tooting resident, said: "It's fantastic to have such a big improvement like this as it means there'll be less waiting time on the platform in the morning."
Another scheme that will be put into place later this year is the night Tube, which will see the underground running through the night at weekends and giving commuters quicker and safer transport home from central London.
Mr Watkins added: "We're also working hard to bring Crossrail 2 to Tooting Broadway - but we can only do this with the strong economy delivered by a Conservative government."
