If you have been following my blog for the last couple of months, you will have read about what and how we grow organically here at Growhampton. This Saturday is your chance to visit us.

I will be leading tours of the growing sites on the University of Roehampton’s campus at 11am and 1pm and The Hive Café will be open from 10am-2pm for delicious triple certified (organic, Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance) coffee and brunch.

We are opening our gardens on Saturday as part of the national Edible Gardens Open Day event which will see edible gardens across the UK open up to the public in a celebration of all things food and farming – perfectly timed right in the midst of harvest season.  It’s an ideal opportunity to meet new people and check out what other gardeners are up to in their plots.

Our edible campus is approaching the end of its first spring-summer growing season, and we’re moving into winter vegetables, so it’s a great time to visit and there’s loads to see.  The tour will include our polytunnel, main growing site, orchards, college gardens and The Hive Café.

We are surrounded by beautiful campus grounds, so if you can’t make the tour times feel free to have meander around and end up back at the café for a cup of coffee or an ethical loose leaf tea  and a naughty pastry. We’ll be launching our new Saturday breakfast/brunch option – the classic organic beans on toast served with two slices of thick cut sourdough that you can toast yourself on our toasting tables.

The Hive Cafe can be found in Digby Square at Digby Stuart College, Roehampton Lane, London SW15 5PU and will be open from 10am-2pm. Tours of the edible campus will depart from The Hive Cafe at 11am and 1pm and there’s is no need to book.

IMPORTANT: You have just two weeks left to vote for Growhampton in the Soil Association Organic Awards. We’ve been selected as a finalist in the Eating Out category. If you visit The Hive this weekend you can cast your vote in person or you can click on the link on the right. Whichever way you vote, do it before 30 September.
