The Fishponds Road closure consultation closes on Friday, so this is the last chance for people to vote “NO”.
John Irwin talks grandly about it only being a trial so what have we got to lose, but fails to point out that this little experiment will cost £84,000, and probably the same to put it right when it doesn’t work!
This is not the way to formulate policy on a suck-it-and-see basis!
Of course there are people living in Fishponds Road who would like to see it blocked to traffic, but what about the rest of Tooting who will have to pay the cost and put up with the whole area becoming a grid-locked nightmare?
And where next? There must be 50 similar roads in Wandsworth.
Are we going to close off the whole of the Borough and allow business and commerce to grind to a halt?
