A short film directed by The Wire star Idris Elba is one of the highlights of this year's Peace Concert organised by charity STORM.

The concert, now in its eighth year, aims to support and empower young people to reject involvement in gangs and guns, and seek alternatives.

Last year's event attracted more than 900 people to the town hall and this year's event is hoping to bring even more.

The concert will feature a number of MCs, DJs and speakers plus acts such as KOF, A Dot, Infa Red and Lady Leshur - it will be hosted by comedian Angie La Mar.

STORM, which stands for Support, Trust, Opportunity, Rebuilding and Motivation, was created after founder Marie Hanson's own son was stabbed.

Ms Hanson said: "We will be showing a film, One Square Mile, directed by Idris Elba and starring young people from our Off The Street youth club. Plus a representative from the Centre for Social Justice will be giving a short presentation on the day."

The concert takes place at Wandsworth Town Hall's civic suite on Thursday, August 8, from 12pm until 10pm.

This is a free ticketed event only so tickets must be bought by emailing stormempowerment@hotmail.com or calling 0207 498 0311/0204.
