I work in SW17 and live in Milton Keynes, a long schlep I know but hopefully not without fruit.
In 1952 my half sister was given up for adoption after being with her mum, Joan Davies for seven weeks.
My father was Harry Porter and he was 23 and Joan was 19 - my father walked away.
Harry met and married my mother in 1959 and they had a little girl in 1963, she died in 1965 of meningitis, my brother was born six weeks later.
I was born in 1967 and knew nothing of my 'other' sister, a little girl given up by her mother Joan who didn't want to lose her.
My father died in 1990, after which my mother told me of a half sister who had never been mentioned.
I searched for 20 years until last summer via Ancestry.co.uk I found her.
How fantastic it was to firstly contact, then speak with and finally meet and hug her, my sister.
This was a miracle in itself, but the story isn't over, I am still looking for Joan, my sister Jennifer's mother.
Joan Davies was born in 1932 / 3 in Wandsworth area.
