A sportswear shop based in the borough has landed a contract to dress some of the fittest sportsmen in the world.

Crewroom, in Putney Bridge Road, will be supplying the garments for the world's biggest obstacle racing series, Spartan Race.

The business, which also kitted out rowers for the Olympics, will provide the race with all its merchandising and apparel in Britain and Canada.

This includes 100,000 finishers race shirts, with all of the kit made from start to finish by Crewroom.
Spartan Race, named after the ancient Greek warriors, are regarded as the world’s best and fastest-growing obstacle race organisers.

Crewroom's robust kit has been built to survive the 15-foot rope climbs, barbed wire mud crawls and ice-pit plunges racers have to endure.

Kate Giles, co-founder of Crewroom, said the business has really taken off since providing the kit for Team GB.

She said: "This is a very exciting opportunity for Crewroom. We make a perfect match with the Spartan Race series, whose worldwide success has been phenomenal.

"And we’re delighted that Spartan Race have chosen Crewroom as their partner for all their forthcoming UK and Canadian events. I’m sure 2013 is going to be a great year for both of us."
