Four Metropolitan Police officers were sacked in the space of 24 hours for failing drug tests.
On Thursday (April 25) four separate misconduct hearings took place for officers who had failed with cause drugs tests.
PC Nicola Mathews, based in Lambeth, took a 'with cause' drugs test in November 2023 and tested positive for cocaine.
PC David Burgess was randomly selected for a drugs test in the same month and tested positive for cannabis.
He said he had used a vape pen without realising it contained THC after playing football with ‘the boys’.
PC Daniel Brand took a with cause drugs test in August 23 and tested positive for cocaine.
PC Michael Jules, from the Serious Investigation Unit, took a with cause drugs test in November 2023 and tested positive for cannabis.
All four officers were found to breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to discreditable conduct at the level of gross misconduct.
PC Burgess, PC Brand and PC Jules were all dismissed without notice.
PC Mathews had already resigned, but the Met said she would have been dismissed without notice were she still a serving officer.
